Dodge Durango III Door Sill Protection: Metal, Plastic, Front or Full Set?
The important distinction is the surface being marked. Our vehicle-specific illuminated plates mount to the flat painted metal threshold. They do not cover every adjacent black plastic or vertical painted surface. Choose front or front-and-rear by the doors that need protection, not by the number of pieces visible in a generic photograph.

What the owner was asking
A Durango owner without sill plates asked whether an added plate belongs on the metal or on the blank black plastic. That is a placement question, not proof that every Durango has the same doorway dimensions. Our Durango III collection is the fitment starting point; the exact product and set decide what is supplied.
Map the contact area before ordering
Open a front and a rear door and locate the marks. The top of the painted metal is where these adhesive-backed LED plates are intended to sit. The inner molded plastic may take a different scuff path; a metal plate on paint cannot cover it. Likewise the outer vertical painted lip stays exposed if the plate ends on the flat top. For scratches on those other surfaces, use a compatible protector or a correctly fitted film designed for the specific area, rather than claiming the lighted plate covers the whole doorway.
If marks are mostly at the front entries, a front pair may be enough. If rear passengers also scrape the threshold, inspect the shorter rear mounting surfaces and choose a front-plus-rear option where that exact product offers one. Confirm the variant before checkout.
A confirmed four-piece R/T example
The pictured DURANGO R/T Stainless listing shows two long front and two shorter rear pieces. Its confirmed application is Durango III model years 2011–2027. The matching DURANGO R/T Matte PRO listing shows the same four-piece arrangement in a darker finish. Both are a specific Ram-emblem R/T artwork and geometry group; the 2011–2027 confirmation must not be extended to a different Durango design without evidence.
Stainless shows a brighter metal face; Matte PRO uses a painted steel top with a colored ABS edge. On Matte PRO the logo and lines on the upper face illuminate, while the edge stays unlit. This changes the look, not the painted area beyond the plate.
Before fitting a wired plate
Dry-fit each piece to the correct doorway, check clearance, clean the painted surface and plan the cable path before peeling the liner. These plates require a vehicle power connection; a door-activated circuit may be used when suitable, but no universal Durango plug location is promised. If trim removal or circuit identification is unfamiliar, use a qualified installer. A product photo is not an installation diagram.

The R/T artwork is a ready-made example. For a family Durango you could request initials or a short family phrase; a club vehicle might use a simplified club mark; a gift might carry a brief dedication. Tell us the Durango model and year, the front or full set, and your text, drawing or reference. A plain description is enough to start. Letter height, fine detail and placement depend on the available plate area; feasibility and price are reviewed individually. Another logo cannot make a different-model plate fit a Durango.
