The S650 owner question

A non-Premium S650 owner documented an illuminated-sill addition. Other owners asked about wire colors and custom artwork. Their experience shows why the wiring and the design should be considered separately; a forum post is not a service manual for every S650 model year or trim.

Begin with the Mustang VII collection and the precise published product page. Older Mustang generations may have a similar wordmark but different door-opening geometry.

What the plate does—and does not do

An illuminated plate covers the flat painted metal threshold under its own footprint and changes the entry appearance when lit. It does not automatically shield the outer painted return, inner plastic trim or the entire rocker area. For shoes rubbing the vertical edge, examine a suitable film pattern or protector for that edge. For purely cosmetic light, choose the plate because you like its visible design, not because it replaces every surface protector.

Stainless or Matte PRO for this S650?

Make a safe installation plan

Confirm S650 and the vehicle year against the product listing, then place the plates without adhesive to verify orientation and clearance.
Check that the wire route will not interfere with the door seal, moving parts or trim clips.
Identify an appropriate power and switching circuit for this specific vehicle; do not copy a color code from a different Mustang year as proof.
Clean the supported mounting surface and secure the plates only after the electrical route is understood.

These are wired accessories. A factory plug, coding-free fit or no-trim-removal installation is not promised. A qualified automotive electrician is the right choice if circuit identification is uncertain.

A Mustang design beyond the example logo

A short S650 project name, a club mark, initials or a dedication could work; a very detailed pony illustration may need simplification to remain legible on a narrow lit surface.
