How to Clean and Care for LED Door Sills
Use a gentle routine: remove loose grit, wipe the surface with a soft damp cloth and dry it. Follow any finish-specific care instructions supplied with your set before using a cleaner or polish.
Start with loose dirt
Doorways collect dust and grit from shoes. Lift loose debris before rubbing the plate. Use a clean cloth so particles from the floor or wheels do not scratch the visible surface. Do not use the illuminated plate as a step or scrub embedded dirt with a metal tool.
Choose care for the actual finish
A product may expose stainless steel or use a coated surface. Matte PRO has a matte-coated stainless upper plate; a Stainless listing may also offer a protective surface option. Check what you ordered before applying a product intended for bare metal.
Avoid abrasive pads, polishing compounds and aggressive solvents unless the finish instructions approve them. Polishing a matte coating can change its appearance. Photograph adhesive residue, staining or another stubborn mark and ask support before trying a stronger treatment.
Keep cleaning water away from connections
Keep pressure jets away from the plate’s edges and wiring connections, and do not soak the accessory. Check the product documentation for any ingress rating. If you see moisture at a connection or notice flickering after cleaning, stop using the accessory and ask an installer or support to assess it.
Inspect the mounting while the doorway is clean
- Look for a lifting edge or movement of the plate.
- Check visible cable sections for rubbing or trapped insulation.
- Confirm the door and seal still clear the plate.
- Photograph a change in the surface or lighting before attempting a repair.
