How to Measure Your Door Sills Before Ordering
Use this guide when a listing leaves a fit question or you are requesting a set for an unlisted model. An existing set that matches your model, generation and doorway geometry does not require a measurement submission. To check an uncertain area, measure the usable flat metal and stop before a bend, curve or plastic trim.
Record the vehicle before the dimensions
Write down the make, model, model year, generation or chassis code, and body style. Use the model and body style as the fitment record; a sedan threshold can differ from an estate, coupe or SUV with a related name. Include the product link if you already have a listing in mind.
Measure the front positions
- Open the door and identify the flat painted metal surface where the overlay would sit.
- Measure its usable length before the surface changes direction.
- Measure the usable width at the narrowest part of that intended area.
- Photograph the whole threshold and a close view with the measuring tape visible.
- Repeat on the opposite side if the available space or shape differs.
Measure rear positions separately
For a front-and-rear request, provide a separate length and width for the rear area. Rear thresholds can have less flat space or a bend in a different place. A front measurement cannot establish that the rear plates will fit.
Keep the tape in the same plane as the surface, and take the photograph from as close to straight above as access allows. Add an oblique view to show the curve or step that the overhead view hides. Keep each dimension labeled in millimeters or inches so the team does not have to guess the units.
Send one complete measurement record
Use this format: vehicle details; intended product; front left/right usable length × width; rear left/right usable length × width if needed; units; photographs; any concern about trim, seals or door clearance. Do not remove trim just to complete this shopping check.
Measurements help compare an uncertain fit with the proposed plate; they cannot make a different vehicle’s plate suitable.
