One Custom Design for Door Sills and a License Plate Badge

Imagine NIGHT DRIVE below your license plate and the same words appearing when you open the door. That is the idea behind this custom LED door sill and license plate badge example: one short name, two separately planned layouts. Here is how to turn that idea into a clear request.

NIGHT DRIVE is an illustrative design exercise, not a completed customer order. It shows what to specify before the artwork is reviewed.

NIGHT DRIVE: one short phrase keeps the lettering as the main feature. The illustrated license plate is not included.

Step 1: make the wording unambiguous

Write NIGHT DRIVE as the exact primary inscription. Decide whether you want those two words only. If a small slogan is optional, leave it out of the first layout so the main letters do not have to shrink to accommodate it.

Supply the intended letter shapes as a clear reference. For this example, the request is filled white lettering with clear internal openings, no outline-only treatment and no secondary micro-text. That describes the intended appearance; it does not ask the maker to change the accessory's physical shape.

Step 2: choose the two physical products

Select the door sill by vehicle model, generation and body style in the sill catalog. Choose the listed front or front-and-rear configuration and the finish. If your vehicle is not listed, use the vehicle request route before assuming a nearby model will fit.

For the badge, check the standard 12 × 6 inch plate format and the space beneath and around your plate. The badge and sills share the design theme, but each uses its own mounting area.

Step 3: give each item its own instruction

  • Badge: NIGHT DRIVE as the primary inscription; preserve the approved lettering reference; select White.
  • Front sills: NIGHT DRIVE, with placement and reading direction reviewed for the selected left and right parts.
  • Rear sills, if selected: request a separate layout review rather than assuming the front drawing can simply be reduced.

The wording is shared, but the artwork needs to suit each available area. Ask to review any change to spacing, proportion or placement. Avoid a vague instruction such as “make both identical” when the products have different dimensions.

Write a separate brief for each item

Before adding the products to the cart, put the final request in a two-line note. For the badge, write the exact text as NIGHT DRIVE, in uppercase, with no extra slogan, then state the selected lighting. Use the required Custom field on the badge. For each sill, repeat the exact text, state the intended case and punctuation, and identify the position or set you are ordering. If the sill listing provides a Custom field, use that field for its request; if it does not, follow the contact route shown for that product.

  • Badge: NIGHT DRIVE; uppercase; filled lettering reference; White lighting; no secondary micro-text.
  • Front sills: NIGHT DRIVE; uppercase; same reference; review left and right placement separately.
  • Rear sills: use a separate note only if included; do not ask the maker to reuse the front layout without review.

Keep the requests on separate cart lines when the wording, case or placement differs. A clear brief helps the team evaluate the request, but it does not guarantee artwork approval, a particular final drawing or a fitment choice. Check the vehicle model, generation and body style on the sill listing before you treat the shared wording as a finished design.

Once the wording is ready, use the sill-and-badge matching guide to compare finish and lighting across the two products.

Step 4: submit text and artwork through the right route

Enter the badge request in the required Custom field. For a logo reference, follow the artwork submission guide: identify the artwork in the request and use the existing order-confirmation reply route for the file. The text field is not a file uploader.

Keep the sill request separate and check its own customization options. The badge range's Custom surcharge is not a universal price for customizing every accessory. Review the selected product and cart total.

Step 5: review before treating the design as settled

Compare spelling, letter openings, spacing, orientation and any proposed simplification. Check each position you are buying. The manufacturing limits guide explains why a detailed preview is not enough to approve tiny features.

Save the agreed reference with the order, then confirm the actual variants and text in the cart. This process gives a personal design a consistent message without pretending that one layout or one fitment choice covers both products.
