Model, Generation and Year: Choosing the Right Door Sills
Match your vehicle’s model, generation or chassis code, body style and listed years before choosing door sills. The logo on the illuminated area does not identify the shape of the threshold.
Build a short vehicle record
- Make and full model name
- Model year and generation or chassis code, if known
- Body style, such as sedan, estate, coupe or SUV
- Market or regional model name if it differs from the listing
- The product link and the listing’s matching plate geometry
You do not need to guess a chassis code. Start with the details you know and the model, generation and body style on the selected listing. If a facelift changed the surrounding trim or the shape is unclear, add a threshold photograph or measurement.
Resolve year-range differences before ordering
A calendar year may overlap two generations, and regional model years can differ. If your year appears at the boundary of a listing, compare the body style and physical shape instead of choosing by the nearest number.
For example, a model collection may include several generations, finishes and designs. Read the complete title of each product card and select the generation and geometry that match your vehicle.
Keep artwork separate from fit
A brand emblem, model inscription or trim-style design can appear on several sill shapes. AMG, M Performance, quattro or a model name identifies a visual choice. Select that choice within the correct vehicle product, rather than using the inscription as the compatibility test.
Use measurements to resolve the remaining question
If the listing leaves a fit question, compare the usable flat metal area before bends and trim with the proposed plate. For that review, provide separate front and rear measurements when needed. The size guide explains the process. A matching listed set does not require measurements or photos for each order.
If the catalog does not list your vehicle, use the fitment request for a new geometry review. A related model’s logo or generation name is not a substitute for its plate shape.
