From a Handwritten Name to an LED Design Brief
Choose the features that make a handwritten name recognizable, then ask LDS to review a simplified artwork proposal. A photograph of handwriting records the original; it does not establish that every fine stroke can become a clear illuminated feature.
Separate the name from the drawing
Write the exact spelling as plain text beside the handwritten reference. Mark whether the appeal comes from an unusual capital, a connected ending, the angle of the letters or a flourish. This lets the designer preserve the feature that matters instead of replacing the whole inscription with an unrelated script font.
The BMW M3 badge listing offers a custom name, text or logo request and says final artwork and placement are reviewed before making. Short text and clear shapes are favored. It does not promise exact handwriting reproduction.
Use a proposed simplification, not a silent substitution
In this example, the proposal keeps the high opening shape and connected word while removing the lower flourish. It does not decide a production stroke width. The example shows how to identify a change and request approval.
Review the proposed word at the intended size
Inspect letter joins, small openings and the gap between the word and surrounding decoration. Ask to see the full accessory proof as well as the close crop. A name that looks clear when enlarged may need a different layout at its proposed finished size.
Explain which changes you accept: removing a flourish, opening a crowded join or adjusting spacing. Ask for a revised proof if a change makes the name look like a different spelling. Do not authorize “whatever fits” if the particular handwriting is the reason for the order.
Approve the product specification too
Keep the artwork revision with the exact accessory, material where applicable, set and supported LED option. A handwriting reference cannot establish fitment, control features or a supported manufacturing method.
Browse the badge collection for the product decision, and use the artwork preparation guide for the file handoff. Ask LDS to confirm the proposed lettering before making.
