Ordering One Replacement LED Sill: The Records That Match an Existing Set

One dark or damaged plate can make a complete set feel unusable, but a replacement request needs more than a vehicle model. The same model may have several generations, logos, finishes, light zones and set configurations. Gather the original record before asking support to match one plate.

Start with the original product identity

Copy the product URL and product ID from the order confirmation. Record the make, model, generation, body style and model year shown on that listing. Add the product family, finish, artwork, set and selected light option. If the product offered separate body and highlight colors, copy both labels exactly.

A current listing can change its images or wording after an older order. The BMW X3 E83 Matte PRO record demonstrates the kind of identity to preserve: the page names the E83 generation, the X3 artwork, Matte PRO construction, independent body/highlight choices and FRONT or FRONT+REAR. Those details are more useful than “BMW X3 sill” in a message.

Describe the affected plate without guessing

State whether the problem concerns one plate or the complete set. Photograph the complete doorway, then the affected plate and its artwork. Record the side using a written viewing convention, such as “standing outside the open door and facing the cabin.” If the plate has a label, connector mark or controller reference that is already visible, include it. Do not remove the plate or cut the wire just to identify the side.

Record when the symptom began and what the plate does now: dark, wrong color, intermittent, lifted or physically damaged. Separate an electrical symptom from a surface or adhesive problem. A replacement plate may not solve a wiring fault affecting the whole set.

Ask about a single piece directly

Write a narrow question: “Can you supply one replacement plate for product ID ___, artwork ___, side ___, finish ___ and selected set ___?” Do not assume that a product sold as a front pair or Front + Rear can be split, and do not promise that single-piece availability exists. Ask whether support can match the existing controller, lead, artwork and light zone if a replacement route is available.

Include the original order date and any previous support case. If the listing now shows a different generation or artwork, say so instead of choosing the nearest product. The LED Door Sills collection is useful for browsing, but it cannot identify an older set by itself.

Build the replacement packet

  • Order number, product ID and original product URL
  • Vehicle identity exactly as ordered
  • Finish, artwork, set and all selected color fields
  • Side convention and one full-set photo
  • Close photos of the affected plate, lead and mounting area
  • Short description of the symptom, date and prior changes

Keep the old plate and controller intact while support reviews the record. Do not substitute another model’s image, logo or dimensions. If support confirms a route, ask for the exact product identity, quantity, side, price and instructions in writing before you approve it.

For the broader made-to-order record, compare the custom-order guide. This article adds the matching problem: the goal is to identify one existing configuration, not to invent a new pair or guarantee a single-piece sale.
